Working with the kettlebell has changed me for the better. It might sound overly simplistic but nonetheless true. I started attending sessions just about 2 years ago and for the first 8 - 10 months I was there about once per week. It was what I accomplished during that first year that really made me stop, pause and think about my body and my level of fitness. That first year was tough on me! The cardio aspects of working with the bell at session was an eye-opener and the other exercises that involved body weight alone were just plain tough. However, what a change even with an average attendance of once a week. My clothes were loose. I had to get my suits tailored and buy some new jeans! Talk about positive reinforcement. Since that time I began attending class multiple time a week and in the past few months have consistently attended on average 3 times a week. My stamina is up and certainly my strength. Working with heavy bells is a reality for me now.
Another really positive aspect about attending session at F3 is the people. I get the feeling that we all come from different walks but everyone is friendly, helpful, a little competitive with a smile and just plain fun to be around. The positive reinforcement from the head trainer and his staff is excellent. Overall, the personal interaction continues to be one of the highlights of my kettlebell experience at F3. There are probably many more interesting things I could mention but at the end I come to the beginning. Working with kettlebells at F3 has changed me for the better! Gabe: So, we need to write a little something about how F3 has changed how we look at fitness.
Milagros: Ok, but you write, and I'll tell you what to write.
Gabe: But "mi amor, we have to do it together.
Milagros: No, you don't get it, you write and I'll tell you what to write.
...and this went on and on for maybe fifteen minutes.
On seriousness though, what we can agree on, as a couple, is how F3 has changed, practically, our lives. We have been going to all kinds of "fitness specials" thanks to online coupons; we have attended everything from boot camp, to personal training to personal training sessions, and everything in between. But it wasn't until Milagros saw this coupon for a kettlebell studio; something that at that time we haven't even heard of. I mean, we have seen them in the gyms, but we had no idea on what they were, or how to use them. We came to the Studio with the thought of "ok, we'll give it a try", and "this will be yet another exercise regime where everything will be repetitive and we'll not even finish our coupon time", and we'll quit. We were wrong.
Well, when we first arrived, we were greeted by Glenn, the owner of the studio and prime instructor, who went above and beyond explaining us what kettlebell training was all about, the benefits of this fitness regime, and how if we incorporate different movements and different body weight exercises, we could see some results. And oh boy, the results we are seeing!
We have been coming to the studio for a little over six months now, and for both of us it has been a tremendous improvement. And we are not talking about only physical improvement, but also on how we are leading healthier lives. The instructors at F3, led by Glenn, are the crème de la crème when it comes to motivation, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the clients, and working with them to achieve results in small group training sessions. We have been surprised multiple times how the support from the instructors, and the rest of the F3 family, has helped us with all of our accomplishments with kettlebell training. The best is that we are seeing results, we are keeping up with training, we are always excited about the sessions (even with Spanish curse words thrown in there for amusement), and making cool new friends. Thank you Glenn and F3 Studio!

I had been on a workout hiatus for almost 3 years. I had looked at other gyms, other programs , even other kettlebell studios but they didn't really work for me. There were weird people, crazy expensive, inconvenient times/locations. A friend was determined to get me to workout... We had talked to/looked at a few kettlebell studios & then she found F3. So 4 of us headed up to Dupont Circle to meet Glenn. We found an amazing studio with a character of a coach in an eclectic part of town. Sure... Let's give it a try...
... so it has been about 5 months & I love it! I greatly enjoy the workouts with each of the instructors. Each has a different flare/ style of teaching which makes the depth of instruction so intriguing. You never know what is going to be on the 'Chalkboard Menu'... but it always feels good to accomplish it :) And the members are so much fun. It truly is a dynamic group of people!!

Dan Reece started his F3 experience with Glenn in 2014 as a way to continue his fitness journey. At one point, Dan weighed 280 pounds and had the beginnings of early onset diabetes, daily heartburn, and was generally lethargic. Dan was able to shed 80 pounds and has been able to keep it off by working with Glenn and the F3 Coaches!
Dan indicated that he "gets a sense of personal accomplishment" from regularly attending kettlebell sessions and can't believe the impact that an hour long class has on his mental and physical health. Dan looks forward to next kettlebell workouts and continuing to build competence with the more advanced exercises.

Prior to joining F3 I worked out in spurts. I would gain weight, my clothes would get tight, I would go back to the gym (that I have been paying for without attending) or start running as long as the weather was nice. I would get in reasonable shape or drop the excess that was bothering me, get bored with my routine (or arrogant about needing to continue) and slowly stop. That was the cycle for more years than I care to really admit...
I saw a Groupon for F3 and it peaked my interest. I was familiar with basic kettlebell movements and was nearing my cycle of having to start working out because my clothes no longer fit comfortably. I purchased a 5-pack and started showing up.
What kept me coming back at first was the variety of the workouts - even though we were using the same tools (kettlebells), each time was a different movement that triggered different muscle groups to be sore. Towards the end of my 5-pack I was noticing that there was a special comradery that created accountability among the members and trainers. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I needed to be accountable and like/respect the people that I would see 2-3 times a week. I joined immediately.
3 years later, I am immensely grateful to Glenn and his team. My physical fitness and strength have reached levels I never thought were possible (one-handed swing with the 32Kg, snatch with a 20kg, anyone??). I even became a certified coach! The community if one of a kind as well - I love being a part of an incredibly encouraging, competitive, and at the same time irreverent group of people who are getting fitter and stronger by the week!
Also, if anyone needs a deep tissue or a sports massage - I cannot recommend Glenn enough.
A special note - I had to have a hip replacement surgery in February of this year. I received tremendous support from F3 Coaches and Members. After the required physical therapy, Glenn is helping me get back to (almost) where I used to be, and I am able to get back to small group training 4 months post-surgery. I credit the speedy recovery to F3 - the Coaches helped me get in the best shape just when I needed it!

My journey with F3 started back in March 2013. Prior to that, I was a bit lost as far as trying to find a gym environment that I liked. I had a membership to one of the larger gyms in the area and also paid for a personal trainer. I became frustrated with the classes offered at the gym because they would try to cram as many people in as possible. I needed more personal attention, especially when learning new exercises.This is why I enjoyed working with my personal trainer. She was able to help me focus on form and also fueled my fire for throwing weight around. Unfortunately, I just couldn't justify spending that much money on a personal trainer.
Thanks to Facebook, I was seeing a former coworker of mine (who is now an F3 coach!) post about these great workouts she was getting using kettlebells. Kettle-whats? I registered for one of the complimentary beginner classes and was hooked! I signed up for a membership that day.
F3 is the perfect combination of a gym membership and personal training. The class sizes are small. The coaches are motivating. The camaraderie is through the roof. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better group of people to workout with.
Over the past 2+ years, I've noticed many changes as a result of being a member of F3. My clothes fit better. I'm getting stronger by the day. The amount of weight I can throw around now is astonishing at times. Back in April 2013, on my third class, I participated in my first pentathlon. I scored a whopping 365 points. Fast forward to our last pentathlon in March 2015, I scored 889.25 points. Those, my friends, are gains.
