The 5 Most Effective Tips for Men's Health: A Men's Health Month Special From F3!

Among the other celebrations we love this month, did you know June is Men’s Health Month?

Men’s health is a topic that takes a lot of research, planning, and know-how. Luckily, F3’s team of experts sat down to dig out the best men’s health tips for you!

We all know the basics: “get more exercise” and “eat better food,” right? But men’s health is so much more than that…

Read on for the five most effective ways to boost men’s health this June!

1. Don’t just exercise: focus on STRENGTH!

You’ve probably heard the familiar doctors’ recommendation: exercise at least 30 minutes per day at least 5 times per week.

But did you know that the type of exercise matters just as much as the frequency?

It’s true: Men’s bodies need more attention in strength training and muscle building. For best results and maximum health, aim not just for cardio but for strength exercises that target all muscle groups at least twice per week.

Some of our favorite full-body workouts include kettlebell HIIT, rowing, and martial arts!

2. Prevent fatigue with this magic recipe: Sleep + Diet = Energy!

Say goodbye to those long mornings by the coffee machine. Hack your sleep with F3’s magic recipe:

Sleep + Diet = Energy!

We all know we should get more sleep, and higher quality sleep while we’re at it. But more than sleep factors into your daily energy levels.

Pair an improved sleep schedule with energy-boosting foods like oatmeal, Greek yogurt, spinach, lentils, and blueberries. You’ll be shocked at how much energy you’ve got left by the end of the day!

3. Keep up with those doctors’ appointments!

Did you know men are less likely to see a doctor on schedule?

Recent studies show that as many as 40% of men only see a doctor when they think something is wrong, and 21% avoid the doctor entirely because they’re worried about what they’ll hear.

Men’s life expectancy is slightly lower than women’s, meaning men have more health problems they need to keep an eye out for as they get older. For example, 1 in 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime—but with early intervention, prostate cancer treatment is possible!

That means keeping up with annual physicals, regular prostate exams, and other tests that look out for preventable diseases like glaucoma, heart disease, and hypertension.

4. Lower blood pressure with cardio, stress relief, and heart-healthy meals!

They say stress is a killer, and that’s never been more true than in 2024.

According to the CDC, nearly 52% of men age 20 or older have hypertension, the medical term for dangerously high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is the leading cause of heart disease and stroke in the United States, so staying on top of your blood pressure will help you avoid these statistics.

You don’t have to cut out all your favorite foods to lower your blood pressure. You can do this by lowering your stress, taking more walks, and adding heart-healthy foods like fish, garlic, and leafy greens to your diet.

5. Boost your brain!

Brain disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and dementia affect 10% of men, but unfortunately, brain health often falls by the wayside.

You might not realize that those brain teasers and crossword puzzles are actually good for you. A 2019 study showed that brain games helped older adults improve memory and brain function.

Challenging your brain also slows the decay of brain cells, a major factor in diseases like dementia or Alzheimer’s.

So, grab those video games and board games and spend some extra “brain time” with your kids! You never know what it can do for your health!
